What time will it be?

The clock time a given number of minutes or hours from now, worked out live.

How this timer keeps time

Most browser timers count down by subtracting a second at a time, which quietly breaks the moment you switch tabs: browsers throttle background pages to save battery, and the countdown falls behind. This one records the exact clock time your countdown will end and measures against it, so switching tabs, locking your phone or refreshing the page does not cost you a second.

Timers are also per tab. Open the site twice and you get two independent countdowns, which is what you want when one is for the oven and the other is for a meeting. If you need to count up rather than down, the online stopwatch records lap times too, and the online clock just shows the current time. For something weeks away rather than minutes, use the countdown timer.

Frequently asked questions

Does the timer keep running in a background tab?
Yes. The countdown is tied to a real end time rather than a ticking counter, so it stays accurate while you work in another tab. It cannot ring if the tab is closed or the device goes to sleep.
What time will my timer end?
The line above the Start button shows it: "Ends at ..." once the countdown is running, or "Ends at ... if you start now" before you press Start, refreshed every minute so it always reflects the current time.
Can I pause a running timer?
Yes. Press Pause and the countdown freezes with the remaining time; Resume continues from there. Reset puts it back to the full duration.
